Pasmore's 2-Purpose Nose and Throat Drops Bottle, With Box and Instructions
The wonderful thing about discovering a unique item is the obvious fact that you own the only one. This can somewhat be a double-edged sword: One on hand it might be an item that is virtually impossible to research. On the other hand, you might just have something that no one else does. Take this wonderful RARE box of "Pasmore's 2-Purpose Nose and Throat Drops" for instance. Made by Laurentian Laboratories Ltd in Montreal, Canada - very little is known about the company or its products. Fortunately a full-page product leaflet is included which outlines various other products that were manufactured by the company. Pasmore's 2-Purpose Nose and Throat Drops contained 0.5% Ephedrine and 0.5% Chlorbutanol as active ingredients.
The graphics suggest this product might have been made in the 1920s. But then we found another clue: Printed on the box and bottle label is no.19693 of the Canadian "Proprietary or Patent Medicine Act" - an 'act' that began in 1909 and ran until 1920 when it was replaced by the "Food and Drugs Act". This box/bottle of Pasmore's could very well be officially 'antique' at 100 years old.
Box measures 3¼" x 2¼" x 1½"
• Original box, with inner corrugated cardboard sleeve
• One unopened (full) bottle of Pasmore's Drops, volume/size not written, probably 1oz bottle
• One eye dropper with bakelite handle
• One instruction/product sheet, double-sided in English and French
CONDITION: Box is a little worse for wear. One of the side tabs has fallen off. Top box flap is precariously hanging on for dear life. Bottle and label are in like-new condition. The end rubber part of the eyedrop piece has collapsed. Paper instruction sheet is in very good shape.
