Shipping fees include handling and packing fees as well as postage costs. Handling fees are fixed, whereas transport (postage) fees vary according to total weight & size of the shipment, as well as to where the items are going. If we cannot group two distinct orders placed separately then shipping fees will apply to each of them.
Packages are dispatched within 2 days after receipt of payment, and are shipped via Canada Post usually with parcel tracking. Some packages may not require tracking (ie. thinner envelopes).
Packages are typically dispatched within 2 days after receipt of payment and are shipped via Canada Post, usually with tracking.
For shipping to the United States (and International Orders), we also use CanadaPost to expedite the initial shipping process. If you prefer delivery by FedEx or UPS with required signature, an additional cost will be applied, so please contact us before choosing this method. Whichever shipment choice you make, we will provide you with a link to track your package(s) online.
Special care is taken to protect fragile objects. Boxes are amply sized and your items are well-protected.
*Orders greater than $250 (before tax) qualify for free shipping within Canada and the U.S.
We do not attempt to intentionally make a profit from shipping costs to you. This is not eBay. In fact, more often than not we take a loss. Read on...
Here at CaribooCollectibles we utilize an integrated web-based program (application) that works directly through our personal business online account at our default shipping company Canada Post. This works in real time when you add items to your shopping cart (assuming you've already chosen an 'account/checkout' option - see section 1 in our WIKI PAGE). Thus, we have not set the shipping costs per item; they are calculated automatically using these three criteria: (size, weight and location). We enter two of these criteria (box dimensions and total weight, including box) when creating a listing for a new item. The third criteria (your location) is the one that affects the shipping costs the most. The method of shipping is also important to consider; it's something you can control during the checkout process and also changes the shipping costs.
If you believe that the shipping costs are too high when checking out your shopping cart, feel free to contact us and we will provide you with the box size and total weight of your order. Simply tell us what the item(s) are, and where you're located. Our shipping from location is in Canada at postal code V7V1H9 which you can use to calculate your own accurate rates using Canada Post Find A Rate service - with luck the numbers should match up closely.
While it is mandatory for us to incorporate taxes when shipping from/to Canada, we cannot assume the capability to do this at any other state level. We're fairly certain that Canadian taxes (PST/GST) will not be charged to items shipped outside of Canada. However, regulations on state-level duty costs is something that is out of our control: The purchaser assumes responsibility to know regional/state rules regarding importing costs & fees. This may mean having to shell out a few bucks (or more) when that FED/EX or UPS person shows up with your package. This unwanted surprise happens to us Canadians all the time when purchasing from online vendors shipping out of the USA.
By default we only purchase insurance on items (or total orders) that are greater than $100 (Canadian funds). This usually increases our costs of shipping by 1-5% but this is not reflected in our shipping costs; your costs aren't affected, we eat it ;-). Having said that, this insurance therefore causes a declaration of value of an item or items to customs and may or may not increase tax and/or duty on the receiving end. Likely not the tax, but highly probable the duty upon destination receivership.
We advise you to group your items into one order. Often the shipping costs will be exactly the same when adding a second or third item to the 'shopping cart'. This is due to the largest package size being used to house the largest item (with ample space remaining for smaller items, whereby the overall weight doesn't change all that much). Try this out for yourself: add multiple items to your cart and watch the shipping costs increase only nominally.
Unless otherwise stated inside individual product pages, it should be noted that all 'containers' are to be considered empty. We will not ship most items on the Canada Post NO SHIP LIST (aside from rare exceptions). For example, a bottle of O-Cedar furniture polish or a can of Shell lighter fluid will be shipped dry & devoid of original internal product. It is possible that certain exceptions can be made depending upon where the item is being shipped to and/or if an alternate expediting company is employed instead.
*We reserve the right to make amendments to our shipping policies.
