A very attractive powder & mirror compact made by the company Stratton in England in the 1960's. This compact features a feathery-leaf motif on the outer cover and a golden circular design to the bottom. Inside features a branded cover with the word Stratton and an embossed image of a ladies' hand single-handedly operating the compact. All clasps & hinges work perfectly, measures 2⅞" in diameter by ⅜" thick.
This compact is fitted with a self-opening lid, a mechanism that was invented to protect ladies from breaking their nails when they opened the inner lid. Just tilt the mirror back slightly & the inner lid opens by pushing on a lever that's cleverly concealed on the outside edge of the compact.
Condition: Good. Issues include:
• Compact has been used, and is missing original sifter and puff.
• Small dent to back of compact (difficult to see in photo, but it's there).
• Small areas to paint on outside cover is peeling/missing (hard to notice).
• Gold metal has some small blemishes in some areas.
