32-Pc 'WM Rogers' Queen Mary Flatware with Turquoise Wooden Chest, Starlight Rose
The pattern of this silverplate flatware set is known by two names, either "Queen Mary" or "Starlight Rose", both of which are acceptable monikers. Made by WM Rogers Manufacturing, this set is their 1865 series of flatware, all pieces save for the knives are embossed "1865 | WM Rogers Mfg. Co. | XS Triple". Likely manufactured in the year 1953.
What's really cool about this set isn't the flatware but the original chest. It's a solid wood box lined with RARE turquoise cloth and has a secondary lower drawer that's also fitted in the same colour. The drawer portion is empty but would have originally held the tea spoons as well as any extra pieces. The chest measures 15½" x 11" and stands 5½" tall.
Flatware included is:
• [6pc] Modern Dinner Knife (Hollow Handle) - 9⅛"
• [8pc] Dinner Fork - 7½"
• [7pc] Salad Fork - 6¾"
• [7pc] Soup Spoon - 7⅜"
• [2pc] Large Serving Spoon - 8⅜"
• [1pc] Sugar Spoon - 5⅞"
• [1pc] Butter Knife - 6¾"
CONDITION (FLATWARE): One of the knives is in poor condition; someone likely used it as a hammer thus it has pronounced dents. Two more knives have dents to the hollow section as well. The rest of the flatware is in good condition with some surface scratches and tarnishing. As with all of our vintage items, we tend not to clean or alter them in any way. This set has not yet been cleaned or polished. No monograms.
CONDITION (CHEST): Some surface scratches and light bumps to the corners. Turquoise lining could use a cleaning but is still in really good condition. We couldn't find any ID markings on the chest.
