A functioning Westclox "Pilot" Shock Resistant pocket watch, made in Canada. Unsophisticated yet classic stainless steel case with a white face featuring black numbers, dials and markers. This watch also has an alternate recessed face & dial for counting the seconds, much like what is found on a railroad pocket watch. Inside reads "Westclox Canada Limited. Peterborough Canada" although Westclox is not printed on the clock face. Woven black leather strap is also original, and included.
This watch was a recent acquisition from an estate sale, a sale that was overseen by the grandson of George A. Pollock (1895-1970) who personally owned this pocket watch during his lifetime. We were told that Mr. Pollock served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) in the Great War, but our source could not confirm whether or not this watch ever saw WWI. We would aver it's doubtful since this watch was manufactured in the 1950s. (Not everyone is exactly honest about provenance at estate sales). The very same esteemed Mr. Pollock also owned this Solingen Klihaso razor.
This watch still works!! We wound it up and it keeps great time!
Condition: There's an ever-so-small dent to the stainless steel backing. Front 'glass' is scratched from all the years but not cracked. No water damage, no stains, no leakage.
