1940s M-S-A Ear Defenders in Original Box with Instructions
One pair of M-S-A Ear Defenders, made by the Mine Safety Appliances Company in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Comes with original cardboard box; written on the box is "Patented in Canada, 1941". The protective carrying case is made from celluloid and reads 'Made in USA' on the underside. Originally designed for people in noisy industrial trades (construction, mining, factories etc) these Ear Defenders were swiftly adopted for usage by soldiers in WWII, especially popular in specific military applications like artillery & shooting. M-S-A also crafted other militaria equipment such as gas masks and goggles. The code "HA-15369" on the box might be an actual product code of the U.S. Army/USAAF used to index its issuable military products.
Also comes with its original paper instruction sheet; rarely do these survive.
CONDITION: Box is missing two 'flaps' on one end. Ear plugs are missing the metal 'plugs' portion.
