The Model G siren manufactured by Federal Sign & Signal Corp., is a hand-cranked mechanical siren designed during WWI as a gas alarm and further put to use during WWII as an "air raid" siren. This Model G Serial 55 is one of several hand-powered sirens that Federal Signal has been producing since 1901. Requiring no electricity and entirely portable with a siren diameter of just 4½", the Model G emits a mighty high-pitched siren. A simple (but stern) clockwise hand-cranked motion moves the rotor within the stator to produce a remarkable 103dB @ 10' (112dB @1m) sound output. Although it functions perfectly when carried, the siren includes a basic two-bolt surface mount bracket for stationary installation.

Durable, rugged and corrosion resistant, these exact sirens can occasionally be found on eBay: compare anywhere between $200-$400 (USD$) depending on condition.

This Model G siren is in its original silver gray industrial colour with original yellow production label still attached with what is presumed to be serial "55" although the label is scratched in that area. The "Serial 55" is somewhat of a misnomer since proprietors often incorrectly assume they have a very early model, whereas the serial '55' is actually a model number.  Federal Signal later changed their yellow label to say "Series" instead of "Serial".

Condition: Has some paint issues and some minor dings/dents but otherwise in perfect working condition. Check with your local laws before using this siren because it is LOUD.
