This is one of those rare relics from the past that was discovered in a local thrift shop, reinforcing exactly why it's important to be at the right place at the right time. A quick Google search for this vintage Orsha Toy Sewing Machine yielded very little information - let alone availability. As luck would have it, this one also comes equipped with its original carrying case and paper instructions. A great decor idea for a child's bedroom or a sewing/craft room.
About: Attractive rare old children's sewing machine (single thread system). Nicely decorated cast iron machine on wooden base. There is also a little compartment to hold spare needles, spools, pins etc. Made in the former U.S.S.R. by the Orsha factory, Orsha, Belarus. Orsha was a major manufacturer of industrial and consumer sewing machines. Orsha made these little machines unmodified for many years, so it is difficult to date exactly; '60s - '70s. These toy machines were imported into Holland by Charlimpex b.v., Uithoorn. The user instructions are in Dutch.
Condition: In very good condition, with all original parts. Needle, the original wooden spool, the original box, and a photocopy of the user instructions included. Dimensions of the base: 10" X 4.5". Weighs approx. 4.5 pounds.
