Outstanding (and rare) old 8 Transistor Radio going by the brand Bel Air/Linmark. Made in Japan in the early 60's, this portable radio was designed in the classic fashion of the atomic era with 3 tones featuring a detailed chrome, cream and burnt orange case. Measures approx. 4½" x 2¾" x 1¼".
Make/model is somewhat ambiguous. The outside case clearly says "Bel-Air" however, one of the inside stickers suggests this is a "Linmark Model TL-81" made by "Shriro Trading Corporation". Upon further research Linmark was a brand/label for Japanese transistor radios from the importer/distributor company Shriro Trading Corp., New York & Los Angeles. Whereas the other sticker is marked "8TP-408" with a serial number of 2060171. Way down at the bottom of this sticker it reads "New York Transistor Corp." although this has been highlighted out. Both say Made in Japan, with Japan being embossed in the plastic case.
Google comes up empty for "TL-81" and "8TP-408" when it concerns radios.
Condition: We applied some AA batteries and it did indeed hiss & make noise, but with not much reception. Has seen better days. Case is cracked on one side; someone previously attempted to repair it. Missing original handle/strap. Both dials work just fine.
