Rare 1960s 'Royal Dutch Buisman's Aroma For Coffee' Tin, With Spoon
Interesting collectible coffee additive "Buisman's Aroma" 4 ounce tin, circa 1960s. Comes with original Buisman plastic lid as well as a small metal serving spoon embossed with the word 'Buisman'. Features a lithographed orange label containing instructions on the reverse, boasting in particular "you will now use up to 30% less coffee than before" (you know...because of how expensive it is to make coffee at home). I'm guessing this is a pre-Starbucks era tin.
Self-billed as "the finishing touch for your coffee", personally I couldn't be enticed to adding extra aroma to my coffee. Which is probably the reason this tin is a rare find - it simply didn't do well in the North American market. Sugar (caramelized glucose) is the main ingredient; can still contains a small amount of product. Made in Holland for Canada Buisman (Ontario) Ltd. Tin measures 3" x 2¼".
CONDITION: Some small scratches and little dents; no oxidation to the metal. No UPC code on label. There is some residue on the outside of the tin (near the lid), this was likely the remnants of a piece of factory tape used to keep the can sealed.
